Lucky to Have You J.A.R.

Make your OGO J.A.R. as beautiful on the outside as the sentiments on the inside, with our Lucky to Have You decoration kit.

1.GET STARTED

Download and print our free OGO J.A.R. decorating sheet and collect your supplies. You will need:

  • OGO J.A.R.
  • Scissors
  • X-ACTO knife
  • Permanent markers in color of your choice
  • Clear tape
  • Twine, ribbon or string
  • A sheet of mylar at least 4”x 5” in size. Tracing paper or vellum also work.
    • Mylar is thin, translucent plastic sheeting available at most arts and craft stores.

2. STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES

Using your X-ACTO knife, carefully cut out the flowers and greenery you like. For this project, we used all the flowers and greenery on the sheet, but you can pick and choose the pieces you want to include. Children will need adult supervision and/or assistance with this step. You can use scissors instead of a X-ACTO blade, but you may not get as close of a cut with them.

3. TRACE YOUR VASE

Lay a piece of mylar sheeting over the decorating sheet and trace the lines of the vase. You can do this with any permanent marker. We chose bronze for a metallic effect.

4. CUT OUT YOUR VASE

Using scissors or a X-ACTO blade, cut out your tracing from the mylar.

5. BEGIN FORMING YOUR BOUQUET

Using pieces of rolled tape, begin assembling your bouquet with the flowers and greenery you cut out in step two. The rolled tape creates a stacked effect to give your arrangement dimension. Tape the stems across the top using flat pieces to hold them together.

6. ASSEMBLE YOUR BOUQUET

Place the stem bunches behind the mylar and tape them to the back of your vase. The translucency of the mylar allows you to see the stems through it, just like glass. Tape the flowers you assembled to the top of the vase right above the mylar.

7. CREATE YOUR BANNER

We provided a couple of options on our decorating sheet to choose for your banner. You can use the pre-made banner that reads “lucky to have you in my life,” or you can handwrite a message on the blank banner. We just wrote the same message on the blank one.

8. TRANSFER IT TO YOUR OGO J.A.R. + FINISHING TOUCHES

Now tape your full bouquet and vase to the surface of your OGO J.A.R. Attach your banner to the top of the vase. Tie twine (or ribbon/string) around the top of your OGO J.A.R. Tying it in a bow makes for a cute finishing touch.

9. OGO STRIPS + DELIVERY

Your DIY OGO J.A.R. is now ready to fill with sentiments, memories and thoughts about your chosen OGO about why he or she is such a special part of your life. Write your thoughts on the colorful recognition strips that came with your OGO J.A.R., then pass your finished OGO J.A.R. along to the OGO in your life!
